OMZON-20
OMZON-20 contains Omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) used to reduce the production of stomach acid. It’s primarily prescribed to treat conditions related to excessive stomach acid, such as acid reflux, peptic ulcers, and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
Uses of OMZON-20 (Omeprazole Gastro-Resistant Capsules IP)
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Helps relieve heartburn and acid regurgitation caused by GERD.
- Peptic Ulcers: Used to treat and prevent ulcers in the stomach or the upper part of the small intestine.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: A condition where the stomach produces too much acid.
- Erosive Esophagitis: Healing damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid.
- H. pylori Infection: Used in combination with antibiotics to treat Helicobacter pylori infections in the stomach.
- Prevention of NSAID-Induced Ulcers: Prevents stomach ulcers in people taking nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) long-term.
Side Effects of OMZON-20 (Omeprazole Gastro-Resistant Capsules IP)
Common side effects:
- Headache
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Stomach pain
- Flatulence (gas)
Less common but more serious side effects:
- Vitamin B12 deficiency: Long-term use can reduce vitamin B12 absorption.
- Bone fractures: Long-term use may increase the risk of bone fractures, especially in older adults.
- Kidney problems: Symptoms like reduced urination or swelling of legs can indicate kidney issues.
- Low magnesium levels: Symptoms include dizziness, muscle cramps, irregular heartbeat, or seizures.
- Clostridium difficile infection: Prolonged use may increase the risk of severe diarrhea caused by this infection.
- Allergic reactions: Skin rashes, itching, swelling of the face or throat, and difficulty breathing.
