Description

Levetiracetam 500 mg Tablets are primarily used as an anticonvulsant medication to manage and prevent seizures in patients with epilepsy. Levetiracetam is often prescribed in combination with other medications to treat various types of seizures, including partial-onset seizures, myoclonic seizures, and generalized tonic-clonic seizures.

Uses:

1. Partial-onset seizures: These occur in one part of the brain and may or may not involve a loss of consciousness.
2. Myoclonic seizures: Characterized by brief, shock-like muscle jerks.
3. Generalized tonic-clonic seizures: Involving both sides of the brain, resulting in convulsions and loss of consciousness.
4. Status epilepticus (off-label use): In certain emergency situations, levetiracetam may also be used intravenously for managing status epilepticus (a prolonged seizure).

Mechanism of Action:
